Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service provided by GitHub Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (“GitHub”).
When you access the website, your browser automatically transmits information to GitHub’s server. In particular, the following data is processed:
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of access
- page or file requested
- referrer URL (the previously visited page)
- browser and operating system used (user agent)
According to GitHub, the IP address of visitors to a GitHub Pages site is logged and stored for security purposes. We ourselves have no access to these logs and do not combine this data with other data sources.
Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in providing our website securely, reliably and efficiently and in defending against attacks.
Transfer to the USA: GitHub is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF). For companies certified under the DPF, the European Commission determined an adequate level of data protection in its decision of 10 July 2023 (Art. 45 GDPR).
Storage period: The storage period is determined by GitHub. Further information can be found in GitHub’s privacy statement.
SSL/TLS encryption
For security reasons, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the address bar of your browser starting with “https://”. When encryption is active, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
Contacting us by email
If you contact us by email, we process the data you provide (e.g. name, email address, content of your message and any further voluntary information) in order to handle your inquiry and answer any follow-up questions.
Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your inquiry relates to the performance of a contract or is necessary for taking steps prior to entering into a contract. In all other cases, processing is based on our legitimate interest in effectively handling inquiries addressed to us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
To operate our mailbox, we use a technical service provider that processes the data solely on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions (Art. 28 GDPR).
Storage period: We delete your inquiry once it has been fully processed and further storage is no longer necessary. Statutory retention obligations – in particular under German tax and commercial law (e.g. Section 147 of the German Fiscal Code, AO) with periods of up to ten years – remain unaffected.
Fonts
This website uses the typefaces “Inter” and “Space Grotesk”. The font files are stored on the same server as the website and are loaded from there. No connection to third-party servers, such as Google Fonts, is established.
External links
This website contains links to websites of other providers, for example in this privacy policy. Personal data is only transferred to the respective provider once you click such a link. Any subsequent processing is governed by that provider’s privacy policy.
Your rights
Within the scope of the statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to
- access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR),
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and
- withdraw any consent given, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
An informal message to the email address above is sufficient to exercise your rights.
Right to object under Art. 21 GDPR
Where we process your personal data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Without prejudice to any other remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement. The supervisory authority responsible for us is:
Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen
(State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony)
